Frequently asked questions.

What ages do you teach?

We welcome students of all ages—young beginners (starting around age 4), teens, and adults. It’s never too early or too late to start learning a new instrument!.

I’m a complete beginner. Can I still join?

Absolutely! Whether you’ve never held a violin, guitar, ukulele, or piano or are picking it back up after years away, we’ll start at your pace and build a strong foundation together.

Do I need my own instrument to start lessons?

Not at first. I'm happy to recommend local shops and rental options to help you find the right size and quality instrument when you’re ready.

How long are the lessons?

Lesson lengths are typically 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age, experience, and goals. I'll recommend the best fit during your first lesson with me.

How much should students practice?

Consistent daily practice is key to progress. Beginners can start with 15–30 minutes daily, increasing as skills develop. I’ll give personalized practice tips each week.

What styles of music do you teach?

I specialize in classical training for violin, viola, guitar, and piano, but I also like to explore other styles like folk, pop (especially for ukulele), and film music, based on each student’s interests and goals.

Are there performance opportunities?

Yes! I hold student recitals twice a year. Friends and families are welcome to attend.

What’s your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule a lesson. Makeup lessons are offered when possible, based on availability.

How involved should parents be?

For younger students, parental support is essential. I encourage parents to attend lessons, help with home practice, and stay in communication with the teacher.
